Cutting chart
Cut strips across the width of fabric, then subcut. All measurements include 1/4" seam allowances.
Star points2 3/8 yd
Cut 20 strips 3 7/8" x WOF.
- Subcut 192 3 7/8" squares for flying geese points
Center1 5/8 yd
Cut 8 strips 6 1/2" x WOF.
- Subcut 48 6 1/2" squares
Background3 3/4 yd
Cut 16 strips 3 1/2" x WOF.
- Subcut 192 3 1/2" squares
Cut 10 strips 7 1/4" x WOF.
- Subcut 48 7 1/4" squares for flying geese (no-waste method, each makes 4)
Border1 3/4 yd
Cut 10 strips 5 1/2" x WOF; join them end to end, then cut the four borders to length.
Binding7/8 yd
Cut 10 strips 2 1/2" x WOF; join them on the diagonal and press in half lengthwise.
Backing, binding, batting
Backing
7 1/2 yd of 42" fabric: 3 panels 90" long, seamed crosswise, for a 90" x 114" back (4" extra on every side for the longarm or your frame). Or 3 1/4 yd of 108" wide backing, no seams.
Binding
10 strips 2 1/2" x WOF, joined on the diagonal and folded in half: 376" around the quilt plus 12" for the corners and the join.
Batting
A piece at least 90" x 114".
