Cutting chart
Cut strips across the width of fabric, then subcut. All measurements include 1/4" seam allowances.
Star points3 yd
Cut 26 strips 3 7/8" x WOF.
- Subcut 256 3 7/8" squares for flying geese points
Center2 1/8 yd
Cut 11 strips 6 1/2" x WOF.
- Subcut 64 6 1/2" squares
Background4 7/8 yd
Cut 22 strips 3 1/2" x WOF.
- Subcut 256 3 1/2" squares
Cut 13 strips 7 1/4" x WOF.
- Subcut 64 7 1/4" squares for flying geese (no-waste method, each makes 4)
Border1 7/8 yd
Cut 11 strips 5 1/2" x WOF; join them end to end, then cut the four borders to length.
Binding7/8 yd
Cut 11 strips 2 1/2" x WOF; join them on the diagonal and press in half lengthwise.
Backing, binding, batting
Backing
9 1/2 yd of 42" fabric: 3 panels 114" long, seamed lengthwise, for a 114" x 114" back (4" extra on every side for the longarm or your frame).
Binding
11 strips 2 1/2" x WOF, joined on the diagonal and folded in half: 424" around the quilt plus 12" for the corners and the join.
Batting
A piece at least 114" x 114".
